Professional Career
After that Harden was selected as the third overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also received the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award of 2011-2012. Harden was then traded to the Houston Rockets on October 27, 2012. He scored a career-high 46 points in a 122–119 to win over his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Harden was selected by the head coaches as a reserve for the 2014 NBA All-Star Game for the 2013-2014 season which marked his second successive All-Star selection. On December 13, 2014, he recorded his third career triple-double with 24 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds in a 108–96 win over the Denver Nuggets for the 2014–2015 season.
