Early Life of Maria Shriver
In Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, she was born on November 6, 1955. She is the second child of politician Sargent Shriver (father) and activist Eunice Kennedy (mother). Maria is a niece of the late U.S. President John F. Kennedy, U.S. attorney general, and U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy. As per reports, she has six siblings, they are Anthony Shriver, Bobby Shriver, Mark Kennedy Shriver, and Timothy Shriver. Having American nationality, Maria is of Irish and German ethnicity.
Except for a brief period in the summer of 1968, when Shriver's family briefly relocated to Chicago as a result of Eunice Kennedy Shriver's involvement with the Special Olympics, Shriver spent her middle school years in Paris. In 1970, she permanently returned from France to Bethesda, Maryland. She enrolled at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart high school and graduated in 1973. Later, she enrolled at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, for two years, then transferred to a Bachelor of Arts degree in American studies at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C, and graduated in June 1977.

She began working as a news writer and producer for KYW-TV after completing her studies. Shriver started working at WJZ-TV and wrote and produced the show ‘Evening Magazine.’ Eventually, she moved on to work for ‘CBS News’ and co-anchored the popular show ‘CBS Morning News.’ In the year 1987, she joined ‘NBC News’. Maria began anchoring shows and then appeared in ‘Main Street’ and ‘Sunday Today.’ She has hosted a show called ‘First Person with Maria Shriver’ and conducted interviews with several well-known personalities, such as Fidel Castro, Sarah Ferguson, and Magic Johnson. She has worked as a contributing anchor to the weekly show ‘Dateline NBC’ from the year 1992 to 2004. Also, she appeared as herself in the 1993 film ‘Last Action Hero.’ In November 2003, she resigned from NBC.
