Who is Gervonta Davis Parents?
Gervonta Davis is the son of parents Garrin Davis (Father), and mother Kenya Brown. In Baltimore, MD, he was born on November 7, 1994. He grew up in the Sandtown-Winchester community in West Baltimore, considered one the most crime-ridden areas of the city. Having American nationality, Davis is of Black ethnicity.
Also, he has a sibling, Demetris Fenwick. He joined a local magnet school, Digital Harbor High School. However, he dropped out to focus on his career. Later, Gervonta completed a GED program to obtain his secondary degree.
Amateur Career of Davis
He started training at Upton Boxing Center under Calvin Ford at the age of 5. From the year 2006 to 2008, he had a highly successful career as an amateur boxer, winning three consecutive National Silver Gloves Championships.

In the year 2012, he became the National Golden Gloves Championship. Also, he won two National Junior Olympics gold medals as well as two Ringside World Championships. Gervonta's amateur career finished with a formidable 2006-15 record.
Gervonta's Professional Career
In early 2013, he made his professional boxing career in a bout against Desi Williams and won in the first round via knockout. Gervonta had amassed an 8-0 record by the summer of 2014. He maintained his winning streak throughout the remainder of 2014 and into 2015, stopping Alberto Mora and Israel Suarez for the first time. In 2016, Davis defeated Mario Antonio Macias and Guillermo Avila to maintain his perfect record. Early in 2017, Davis competed for the IBF super featherweight championship against the unbeaten José Pedraza. In the end, he knocked out his opponent to win the match and the title. Later, he defeated Liam Walsh in a stoppage match to successfully defend his championship.

The IBF championship became vacant after he was stripped of his belt for refusing to weigh in, but, before his subsequent defense. Francisco Fonseca was defeated by Davis in the battle that followed. Davis defeated Jess Cuellar in the third round of their showdown for the WBA super featherweight championship in March 2018. At the beginning of 2019, he defeated Hugo Ruiz to successfully defend his title. Davis successfully defended Ricardo Nez the next summer. He stepped up to the lightweight category towards the end of 2019 and defeated Yuriorkis Gamboa to win the WBA lightweight championship. On Halloween of 2020, he defeated Léo Santa Cruz by stoppage to successfully defend that title. Davis also took home the WBA super featherweight title from Santa Cruz.

In June 2021, after stepping up, Davis faced up against WBA champion Mario Barrios in the super lightweight class. Even though the fight was tight, Davis ultimately won by technical knockout. He competed against Isaac Cruz after dropping back to the lightweight class. For the first time in his career, Davis' fight went the full twelve rounds and finally prevailed by unanimous decision. Beginning in 2022, Davis successfully defended his lightweight championship against Rolando Romero, who had been slated to face Davis the year before but had been postponed due to claims of sexual assault. He competed against unbeaten WBA super featherweight champion Héctor Garcia, who he defeated in the eighth round via corner retirement.

Davis' Legal Problems
Davis has had many legal run-ins since 2017. A warrant for his arrest was issued as a result of allegations of serious violence against Anthony Wheeler, a boyhood buddy. Ultimately, during the trial, Wheeler decided to abandon the accusations. Davis was detained in Washington, DC, a year later after engaging in a fight with another individual. Early January 2020, he was detained once more on suspicion of assaulting his ex-girlfriend at home.

For running a red light in Baltimore in 2021 and colliding with another automobile, putting its four occupants in the hospital, Davis was charged with 14 counts. He allegedly fled the area in a different vehicle after that. At the end of 2022, Davis had additional difficulties when he was detained and charged with domestic assault in Florida, leading to his detention.
