In Hubli, India Akshata Murty was born in April 1980. However, she was raised by her maternal grandparents. Akshata is the daughter of N. R. Narayana Murthy (father) and Sudha Murty. Her mom Sudha was the first female engineer to work for the TATA Engineering and Locomotive Company, then India's largest car maker. Later she became a philanthropist.
