Gavin Rossdale is the only son of parents Barbara Bowie (mother) and father Douglas Rossdale. His birth name is Gavin McGregor Rossdale, born on October 30, 1965, in Marylebone, London, United Kingdom. His father Douglas, a doctor, and mother Barbara former model. Gavin's parents divorced when he was 11 years old. As per reports, he was brought up by his father. 

His mom was born and grew up in Scotland, whereas his dad belonged to Russian-Jewish descent. Having British nationality, Gavin is of mixed (Scottish & Russian-Jewish) ethnicity. Gavin Rossdale's Career

He moved to Los Angeles in 1991 for 6 months in order to explore bigger opportunities. During his struggle period, Rossdale took a number of odd jobs like a house painter and a video art illustrator. In 1992, he formed a band called ‘Future Primitive’, on his return to England. His band consists of guitarist Nigel Pulsford, bassist Dave Parsons, screenwriter Sacha Gervasi, and drummer Robin Goodridge. They changed the band name to ‘Bush’ in 1994 and released their first album ‘Sixteen Stone’.  Their first album was great success and became a best seller. In 1996, the band's second album ‘Razorblade Suitcase’ was out. Although critics gave this album largely unfavorable reviews, it peaked at number one on the Billboard 200.

The band released a remix album, ‘Deconstructed’ in the year 1997. No new music on the album; instead, it was made up entirely of complete remixes of the band's earlier tracks. In the year 1999, the band’s album ‘The Science of Things’ released. The band's post-grunge album ‘Golden State’ came out in 2001. The band split up in 2002 with each member going his own way as a result of the band's declining sales and popularity. He went on a hiatus and didn't perform anything for the next couple of years.

In the year 2004, Gavin formed a new alternative rock band ‘Institute’ with Chris Traynor, Cache Tolman, and Charlie Walker. They released their first album, ‘Distort Yourself’ in 2005 and considered moderately successful. Eventually, the band Institute could not do well and broke up in the year 2006. In the year 2008, Gavin came out with his debut solo album, ‘Wanderlust’. Also, Rossdale's attempt to go solo didn't work much in his favour as the album didn't do well. Together with Chris Traynor, Corey Britz, and Robin Goodridge, a former bandmate from the band "Institute," he resurrected the band "Bush." In the year 2011, the reorganized band brought out their album, ‘The Sea of Memories’.


Gavin Rossdale's Acting Career

Gavin featured in the film Constantine in 2005 playing the half-demon Balthazar. Also, he has appeared in the films Zoolander in 2001, Mayor of the Sunset Strip in 2004, Little Black Book in 2004, the Game of Their Lives in 2005, How to Rob a Bank in 2008, and The Bling Ring in 2013.  Also, he appeared in the eighth episode of season 5 of Burn Notice.

In the 2009 episode "The Performer" of the crime drama Criminal Minds, he also had an appearance. He played the role of Paul Davies, a rock singer who adopts the persona of Dante, a vampire whose music is connected to a series of exsanguination murders. Likewise, he played the role of villain Johnny Moreau in the 100th episode of Hawaii Five-0 in November 2014.

Then, they shared their 2nd son, Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, born in August 2008. Gavin & Stefani welcomed their 3rd son, Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale in February 2014. His wife Stefani filed for divorce on 3 August 2015 citing irreconcilable differences. Eventually, they got divorced in April 2016.
