On December 11, 1953, Ed Harding was born to parents Robert J. Harding (father) but mother's info missing. His full name is Edward Charles Harding and birthplace is Newton, Massachusetts. Ed's father Robert was the vice president and partner of Alpha Associates of Minneapolis, a management consultant.

He also co-anchor of the 11 PM newscast in 2004. When WCVB added those newscasts to its schedule in January 2016, he assisted with the launch of NewsCenter 5 at 4:00 and 7:00 PM. Ed served as the chief sports anchor and director of sports at WISH-TV, the Indianapolis CBS affiliate, prior to joining WCVB. He co-hosted and reported the station's annual "Indy 500" special, served as host and producer of The Colts Today, the NFL Indianapolis Colts coach's show, and anchored and produced the 6 PM and 11 PM sportscasts.

Also, Ed provided live reports and color commentary for Colts games on WIBC Radio for three years. Ed was selected Best TV Sportscaster by Indianapolis Magazine while he was in the Midwest and received two Indiana Associated Press honors. Likewise, Ed has already contributed more than 25 years to NewsCenter 5 as a co-anchor.

According to a news article from WCVB 5 that was published on April 16, 2021, Caitlin Harding, a Hudson middle school teacher, was accused of sexually assaulting one of her former students. According to the story, the alleged attack occurred ten years ago, and the accused has pled not guilty. Brad Bailey, Catilin's attorney, responded to the situation by claiming the accusations were untrue and questioning the sudden resurgence of the accusation after ten years.

Additionally, Caitlin was fired from Needham School during her tenure as a teacher due to a suspected abusive relationship she had with another educator there. However, Catilin rejected the assertion and filed a lawsuit against Needham for acting improperly. The Supreme Court ordered her to avoid anyone under the age of 18 and those connected to the case, but it later released her from the sexual assault case.
