After leaving the NBA for 35 years, he finished his degree at Hampton University. It would be wonderful if his mother, who died in 1993, could be there. "But she wanted to graduate high school. She went to night school and she graduated six months before he did. It was inspiring to me."

Who is Rick Mahorn?

Derrick Allen Mahorn is an American former professional basketball player, born on 21 September 1958. His birth place is Hartford, Connecticut. He joined Weaver High School and Hampton College, where Rick played basketball. Also, he set 18 school records while playing basketball at Hampton University. Rick got selected in the 2nd round (35th overall) by the Washington Bullets in the 1980 NBA Draft, and professionally play for Bullets for the next two decades.

In 1989, Mahorn won his only NBA championship with the Detroit Pistons, where he played for the Bullets until 1985. After playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, he went overseas to play for an Italian team. He returned to the Pistons in 1993 and later joined the 76ers before he ended his career in 1999. Until 2009, the center and power forward coached in the CBA and WNBA, before becoming a radio analyst for the Pistons. Rick Mahorn stands at the height of 6 feet 10 inches or 2.08 meters tall.
