He grew up in Eastern Ohio and belongs to a biracial ethnicity. Villaverde spent most of his time exploring the surrounding, catching fish, crayfish, and snakes while growing up. His passion for animal life and the environment led him to study Zoology and Ecology at the University of Akron.

He regularly takes care of the tropical saltwater animals at the zoo. The daily routine he follows at work includes maintaining aquariums, taking care of animal diets, and keeping the aquarium running. Ramon also worked at SeaWorld, Discovery Cove, and Disney World during his career.
