On born February 7, 1985, an American professional mixed martial artist, was born. His full name is Derrick James Lewis. He was raised as one of seven siblings, the second oldest, by a single mother in New Orleans, Louisiana. He had troubled growing up and was often involved in street fighting. He along with his family relocated to Houston, Texas in the year 1998. Derrick started training in boxing at the age of 17. When Lewis was preparing for his first amateur fight when the gym unexpectedly shut down. Derrick Lewis has a height of 6 feet 3 inches or 1.91 m tall.

He was charged with aggravated assault, two weeks after graduating from high school. Derrick was placed on probation as well. After two years, he joined Kilgore College on a full scholarship for football, then violated his probation. As a result, he was sentenced to five years in prison, but ended up serving three and a half. He was introduced to mixed martial arts by a friend a week after being released. Lewis had worked as a tow-truck driver and continued with boxing under the tutelage of George Foreman. He decided to focus on mixed martial arts after dominating in his first professional mixed martial arts fight. Derrick Lewis earned an estimated net worth of $1.5 Million.
