He sent his baby boy off to his first day of pre-school on September 13, 2021. On Twitter, he shared a father-son moment and wrote, Crazy day with my guy starting pre-school. The father-son duo is well complemented by the mother of the family and another son.


About Ryan Whitney

On February 19, 1983, Ryan Whitney was born and raised in Scituate, MA. He has two younger siblings brother ColinWhitney and Sean Whitney. His brother Sean played collegiate hockey at Cornell University from the 2008–09 season to the 2011–12 season. Ryan's brother Colin played lacrosse at Connecticut College. Whitney stands at a height of 6 feet 4 inches tall. He joined Boston University after being rewarded a full scholarship.

The Pittsburgh Penguins selected him fifth overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft after he completed his freshman year. During the course of his hockey career, he played for teams including Modo Hockey, HC Sochi, Florida Panthers, Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, and Pittsburgh Penguins. His career spanned from 2004 to 2015 for over a decade until he announced his retirement from professional hockey on September 20, 2015.
