From 1998 to 2002, she was the assistant coach of the Cleveland Rockers. Lisa became the first woman to hold a coaching position in the National Basketball Association during her time with the Rockers. From the year 2001 to 2002, Boyer was an assistant for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA. In 2002, Boyer returned to the National Collegiate Athletic Association as an assistant coach with the Temple Owls women's basketball team. Her assistant coaching role with the Owls continued until 2008 when she switched to the South Carolina Gamecocks. In the year 2010, she was promoted to associate head coach of the Gamecocks.
