Kelly Jones is a founding member, lead singer, and lead guitarist of the rock band Stereophonics. Also, he is a Welsh singer-songwriter from Cwmaman, Wales.

Parents of Kelly Jones

On 3 June 1974, Kelly Jones was born as the youngest child of his parents Arwyn Jones (father), and mother Beryl Jones. His family was from the small Welsh former mining village of Cwmaman, Rhondda Cynon Taf. He grew up along with his elder siblings brothers Kevin Jones, and Lee Jones. Kelly's parents worked in factories.

Having British nationality, Jones is of English ethnicity. He grew up in the village of Cwmaman, near Aberdare. Kelly studied film at college after completing his high school education. He considered becoming a scriptwriter and then attracting interest from the BBC for his work before focusing on music.


Career of Kelly Jones

Kelly brought his gift for narrative to his lyrics as his band progressed from covers to performing original material. Also, he flirted with the idea of a career in boxing and was a successful fighter at junior levels. Stereophonics' debut album, Word Gets Around, was heavily influenced by Jones' autobiography, including "More Life in a Tramps Vest," which tells of his teenage years as a market vendor. Stereophonics were the first band to be signed to Virgin Records' new V2 label in 1996, after several years on the south Wales live circuit.

They failed to qualify for the charts with their debut EP Looks Like Chaplin, and their next single Local Boy in the Photograph peaked one place short of the UK Top 50. Word Gets Around, however, peaked at number 6 on the UK Albums Chart thanks to a busy touring schedule that included a support slot on fellow Welsh band Manic Street Preachers' 1996–97 tour. A solo set by Kelly Jones was performed at the Tsunami Relief Cardiff benefit concert at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in January 2005.

There was speculation that Jones would leave Stereophonics to pursue a solo career, but he denied this. The musical influences Jones include Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and the Sex Pistols. Known for his raspy voice, described as "whisky," he has received both praise and criticism.

Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band formed in the year 1992. In the band, Kelly sings lead vocals and guitar, Richard Jones plays bass guitar, piano, and backing vocals, Adam Zindani plays guitar and backing vocals, Jamie Morrison plays drums, and touring member Tony Kirkham plays keyboards.

Previously, the group included Stuart Cable (1992 to 2003) and Javier Weyley (2004 - 2016) on drums. They released their first album, Word Gets Around, in 1997 and reached number six in the UK chart. A world tour concluded in 2018 and the release of Kind, the 11th studio album, took place on October 25, 2019.

Controversy of Kelly Jones

Kelly Jones had a troubled relationship with the national tabloid press and often criticized him. Well, he had made headlines several times by criticizing fellow Britpop and post-Britpop musical artists, most notably Radiohead frontman and solo artist Thom Yorke. The singer Kelly criticized Yorke's attitude in the year 2002 interview due to what he felt was complaining about touring on Radiohead's 1998 home video release, Meeting People Is Easy.
