On September 17, 1955, he was born to parents Ulysses Culley (father) and mother Jessie Mae. He grew up in Sparta, Tennessee along with his five siblings, including four brothers & a sister. While studying in high school, he began playing basketball,pitcher in baseball and quarterback in football.

At present, he worked as the head coach of the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). David Culley stands at the height of 5 feet 9 inches or 1.75 meters tall.
