In the 2015 MLB Draft, Bohm was not selected because he was a standout hitter for Roncalli Catholic High School. He chose instead to play college baseball for the Wichita State Shockers after high school. As a Shocker, Bohm maintained a batting average of over .300 throughout his tenure. As a collegiate baseball player, Bohm also played in the Coastal Plain League and the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Bohm was selected third overall by the Phillies in the 2018 MLB Draft, and he signed with the team in June 2018. He was supposed to reach Class A in the Phillies' farm system by the end of 2018, but a knee injury delayed the process. After the COVID-19 pandemic forced Minor League Baseball to cancel the season, Bohm began the 2020 season at a training facility that was open to the general public. In the year 2019, he appeared in the All-Star Futures Game.

The Phillies recalled Bohm from that training site, and he became the team's everyday third baseman for the remainder of the season.Bohm began the 2021 MLB season at third base with the Phillies after a strong rookie season, but a few poor defensive plays and a poor swing sent him back down to the minors.

Bohm was named to the 28-man roster for the 2019 WBSC Premier12 championship, one of several qualifiers for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
