In 2020 Bobby's wife Leslie's allegations of sexual harassment of athletes by boosters made international headlines. Athletics director, Ray Anderson was accused of covering up allegations that a major booster sexually harassed three women, including Hurley's wife.
During an email exchange, her husband complained about Anderson's behavior, calling it "disturbing". In his reply, Anderson called Hurley's allegations "false and baseless."

After that, Bobby released his own statement to The Athletic’s Doug Haller via Twitter,
