Then ABC spokesperson released a statement about how it was inappropriate for Gutman. Also, he made a statement, bearing full responsibility for his erroneous news reporting, and apologized to the Bryant family as well.

In February 2021, Matt Gutman violated a company policy regarding Covid-19 safety and then got suspended. Without getting permission from management beforehand, he walked into a hospital.
