Doreen Gentzler began her professional career as the anchor of Georgia Public Broadcasting's show ‘The Lawmakers’in 1979. At Cleveland, she first worked in WKYC-TV for its 6pm and 11pm newscasts. She has worked as an anchor of ABC’s affiliate in Charlotte, WSOC-TV. from the year 1979 to 1983. 

Then she worked for Philadelphia's WCAU-TV. Doreen joined NBC4 after the departure of anchor Dave Marash in 1989. At WRC-TV, she anchors the station’s weekday 6pm as well as 11pm editions of News4. Also, she works as the station’s health reporter and files medical reports for the health-related community outreach activities ‘NBC4 Health’ and ‘Fitness Expo.’ 

She has been serving as the lead reporter of the station’s show on mental health titled ‘Changing Minds’ since 2014. The show ‘Changing Minds’ became successful in garnering both local and national recognition for stressing a wide range of issues regarding mental illnesses.
